How do I get started?

Register your team of 2-6 players to play a quiz through our online shop. You’ll then receive a confirmation email with your team captain sign-up link. Sign up with your unique team name, and then you can register for more games, and easily invite up to 5 more players. Make sure to also invite yourself as a player!

Where do I sign up for a game?

If you already have a team captain account, you can sign in and register for any of the public games you see listed on your account.

If you are looking for a player link, look in your email and check your spam or promotions folder for an email from hello@quizthis.ca. If you can’t find it, you will need to ask your team captain to re-send your link.

If you are a team captain needing a play link for yourself, make sure you have also listed yourself on the list of players for that game.

How do I play when my team is remote?

If your team are all in different locations, you should each open the “video chat dashboard link” that you received in your “You’re Registered to Quiz This” email, on a laptop or desktop computer equipped with a modern browser (ie. Chrome, Safari or Microsoft Edge) and a web cam. You each will have a different link that is connected to your name, so don’t forward your email to teammates, as they can’t use your link.

How do I play when my team is together?

If your whole team can safely get together, use the WATCH link to broadcast the show on a computer monitor or airplay to a TV. Then you can each open your unique PLAY links to enter your answers on a mobile device. You each will have a different link that is connected to your name, so don’t forward your email to teammates, as they can’t use your link.

What if part of my group is together and others are remote?

We recommend either fully remote, or fully together teams, in order to allow all participants to wear headphones and minimize audio feedback. But some teams have had success with couples or roommates sharing one video dashboard link and answering as one player. In those instances you’d only invite one person, rather than both of them, and all players would use the video dashboard approach so you can all stay connected over text/video chat.

If a couple or roommates are playing together do they count as 1 or 2 players?

We recommend either fully remote, or fully together teams, in order to allow all participants to wear headphones and minimize audio feedback. But some teams have had success with couples or roommates sharing one video dashboard link and answering as one player. In those instances you’d only invite one person, rather than both of them, and all players would use the video dashboard approach so you can all stay connected over text/video chat.

Can I play on my phone or tablet?

The video dashboard is not optimized for mobile and is best viewed on a computer. We have done some successful testing with iPad, but we would advise logging in early to ensure it’s working for you. Depending on the age of your tablet, you may be able to use it, but the view of some of the elements like the chat may be cut off. Best to have a back up plan if possible!

You can use your phone or iPad to enter your answers while viewing the show on another device if all of your team is in one location and you don’t need to use the video/text chat features from the video dashboard.

I’m getting audio feedback!

Uh-Oh! Mute your computer’s sound right away, to stop the feedback, then mute all of your team mates. Once everyone is muted, you can turn your computer volume back on, and unmute each person until you identify the culprit. Once identified, you can troubleshoot why there is feedback.

The most common cause is not wearing headphones, which makes it likely that a users computer will pick up on the host feed, and send that signal back to all participants, creating a compounding effect. If you are are absolutely unable to use headphones, try lowering your volume, in order to reduce the amount of feedback. If you are unable to resolve it in this way, unfortunately you may need to stay on mute, and will have to use hand signals to provide your team input during video chat rounds :).

Do I have to play with the same players every time?

You can switch it up anytime you like! It’s up to the team captain who they invite to play as that team each time. The system is also set up so that the team can even play without the captain if they are not available, which is why you need to invite yourself each time as well.

What if one of my players can’t make it?

Up until game time, you can log into your team captain’s dashboard and delete the player by clicking the next to their name. If you don’t delete a player that doesn’t show up, as long as they don’t ever enter any answers, they won’t count towards your point average.

Can I play alone?

The game is intended for teams of 2-6 players.

How long is the show?

The show is live broadcast and lasts approx 75 minutes.  The show starts at 7:30pm PST sharp, so we encourage players to sign in as early as 7:00pm, so 30 minutes before the show, to enjoy pre-show video chat with their teammates.

Is it suitable for all ages?

Quiz This has a PG rating – so it could be as silly as The Goonies or as disturbing as Apollo 13.  Possibly both.

Are there any prizes?

For now the only prize is pure unadulterated glory and bragging rights. Not to mention over an hour of fun. We are working on some exclusive Quiz This swag that you can only get your hands on by winning!
